RSS means Really Simple Syndication, and it really is simple to use. This is how it works:
If you have several websites you've bookmarked that you visit on a regular basis you normally would have to go to each individual site to read what’s new. With RSS all updated content is sent to a feed reader. There are several available such as Google labs (what I use) yahoo, msn etc.
Simply put: instead of you having to go to every website to read updated content, the updates come to you… pretty handy!
