More than a marketing tool, a website can be your most valuable employee
April 21, 2008
Many times I get inquiries from clients who just want a website…they haven't thought about how the website will function they just know they need one. Take some time to consider how your website can work for you to free up your time and make more money.
What can your website do for you?
This depends on your business and what you need. Provided are a few examples that will hopefully give you some ideas on how you can get the most from your website.
- Take online payments
- Allow clients to book appointments online
- Let you and your clients know when booking appointments, classes or orders have reached capacity
- Answer frequently asked questions,
- Tabulate and summarize your sales and orders for the day/month/year
- Organize shipping by region, date, priority
- Allow users to customize their orders
- Cancel all orders or specific orders with a click of a button
- Keep track of all of your clients order history
- Allow people to comment on the site, add their own content and give feedback
- Auto notification for subscribers anytime new content is added to the site
- update the website yourself, add new pages, delete pages, add to galleries etc.
- Create a blog inside your site where you can share your knowledge
- Create a company blog where each employee can contribute their own articles
- Create a client login for clients to view a project with files, updates, meeting guidelines and customize login page with clients logo and business colors for a personalized feel
- Provide a forum for people to ask questions, give their own advice or post your own feedback and generate new leads
When deciding on customized features for your website you need to think long term. Will adding such features to your site free up your time so you can concentrate on actually working? Will the extra money spent in the beginning save you money in the long run?
